First Family Session

Mary is passionate, no nonsense, down to earth. I took this picture of her years ago on a Sunday morning. Joy in the midst of chaos. Yes, sharper focus on my part would have been a bonus, but still. I remembered this moment so well that I dug way back into the archives of December 2014 to share it.

Mary and Joy in Chaos

I will also always remember the look on Scott's face when Maverick was born and he said, "Oh Julie, you're gonna love his name!" I love the Carroll family. Spunky fun high energy kids. Lots of love. Life has thrown plenty of challenges in their path in the few years I've known them. I've admired how their faith continues to shine through it all.

Okay, Mary gave me permission to share what she posted on Facebook about our photo shoot. I just love it.

"I look forward to having our family pictures taken every year. My kids are learning to cooperate more and more as they get older. But man, there can be a lot that goes wrong as you get a family of 6 ready. These may or may not have happened today:

- go to get everyone dressed 45 minutes before leaving and realize your 8 year old doesn’t own 1 pair of jeans. And basketball shorts just aren’t the look I am going for. Off to Target I go.

- mom can’t find her make up bag. Ok, so maybe I don’t wear my make up everyday, but I for sure want it before pictures. Hubby and the kids say to go without. I say let’s go get me some more on the way to pictures. Find said make up bag in the car as we are heading back to Target.

- bribes of milkshakes

-rain all morning. Even longer than it was predicted for. Can’t control the weather, but it turned out beautiful! Too sunny for a couple shots.

-an amazing photographer who was so great with our family. Julie Macholz, you are awesome.

Now when you see our beautiful family pictures, remember there is real life behind them."

Couldn't have asked for a better first experience shooting family portraits!
